About the Role

Our client is seeking for a Systems Testing / QA Specialist to support a large-scale government initiative. The role is fully onsite and focuses on ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of enterprise-level systems across GUI and non-GUI environments.

The successful candidate will contribute across the full testing lifecycle, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help ensure systems meet functional, performance, accessibility, and regulatory standards.

• Advise on testing strategies , test plans, tools, and resource requirements

• Plan, organize, and execute system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT)

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test data

• Perform functional and non-functional testing including performance, stress, and load testing

• Identify, document, and track defects using tools such as Micro Focus ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, or Azure DevOps

• Work closely with developers and project teams to reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve defects

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts using tools such as UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, Cypress, Postman , or similar

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines

• Validate data integrity and accuracy through backend testing and database queries

• Ensure compliance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards

• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives)

• Maintain comprehensive documentation including test results, coverage, metrics, and reports

• Provide input into user documentation and release notes

• Ensure testing practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements

• 3+ years of experience in quality assurance and systems testing

• Proven experience in planning, organizing, and implementing testing efforts

• Strong manual testing experience

• Solid understanding of application development methodologies and SDLC / STLC

• Experience analyzing business requirements and business rules

• Demonstrated ability to create test cases, traceability matrices, and expected results

• Experience defining entry, exit, and acceptance testing criteria

• Experience creating and managing test data and test user accounts

• Ability to write database queries for data validation and backend testing

• Experience recording test results in Micro Focus ALM or JIRA

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

• Ability to work onsite Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM

• Functional, integration, system, regression, and acceptance testing

• Manual and automated testing methodologies

• Test strategy, planning, and documentation

• Risk-based and evidence-based testing

• API and backend testing

• Performance testing (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner )

• Version control systems and test management tools

• Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall environments

• Experience testing Registry systems (e.g., Catalyst )

• Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications

• Knowledge of AODA accessibility standards

• Experience with security testing concepts

• Ability to present testing results to stakeholders

• Strong written communication skills for documenting complex testing outcomes

• Experience cross-training or mentoring team members
