Job Summary:

About the Role & Program :

Product Engineering builds the software and systems which prepare, deliver, and play streaming media content across the Disney media brands including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, and ABC. Our objective is to provide the best playback experience in the industry to our viewers.

Product Engineering handles video, audio, and metadata for normalization, processing, and packaging – supporting operator tools and automation for a scalable workflow. We build logic across both players and back-end services to measure, control, and optimize playback across our stack. We embrace unconventional thinking and are passionate about contributing to the Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer experience.

Our team is looking for hardworking team players to join us in Product Engineering, who will thrive upon the legacy of the Disney media brands and are passionate about contributing to the experiences we deliver through ESPN, ABC News, Lucas Films, Marvel, National Geographic, Pixar, and the Disney animation and film studios.

The Application Player Engineering Apple Engineering team mission is to design video streaming playback solutions in collaboration with encoding, packaging, and delivery teams to optimize the Disney streaming technology stack for the best streaming experience possible on all platforms.

Our team is seeking someone who can fill the role of an Intern to collaborate in creating a feature rich standard streaming media playback library on Apple devices. Product Engineering is a unified team responsible for the engineering of Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. This includes product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, engineering behind personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

What You Will Do:

  • Opportunity for someone to gain experience with Apple development – including hands-on Swift/SwiftUI development.

  • Opportunity for collaboration within a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Engineers, Web Developers, and Content Creators that conceptualize and develop solutions that are shared across all Disney experiences.

  • Hands-on development on a flagship product where you will directly influence a feature or have impact on quality of a feature-set.

  • Learn to troubleshoot and resolve issues, problems, and errors encountered across our various platforms.

  • Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as the larger engineering organization.

  • Participate in project estimation and resource planning.

  • Research and development for media playback experiences, integration, and testing.

  • Collaboration with team-members for new features which integrate with various Disney media services and back-ends.

Required Qualifications & Skills :

  • Willing to gain experience in Swift or SwiftUI development

  • Experience in Object Oriented Programming or some exposure to concepts

  • Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Mobile programming for iOS (Swift and Xcode, or Objective-C)

Education:

  • Junior or Senior Preferred

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student in an accredited college/university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants:  You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.  

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information 

  • Fully available from M-F, 40 hours each week for the entire program duration: May/June - August/September 2026 (12 weeks)

  • Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
