Description We are looking for a highly experienced Principal Solutions Architect III to join our team in Providence, Rhode Island. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of data security frameworks, focusing on safeguarding data across its lifecycle within a hybrid work environment. This long-term contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies such as AI-driven data security practices, encryption for data pipelines, and modern compliance tools. Responsibilities: Develop and manage data protection strategies for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, ensuring alignment with legal, regulatory, and business requirements. Oversee the deployment and configuration of Azure Purview for data classification and insider risk management policies. Lead the secure implementation of AI data pipelines, vector databases, and other advanced technologies, exploring methods such as fully homomorphic encryption and differential privacy. Create and execute plans for legacy data de-duplication, archiving, and migration, optimizing lifecycle policies and addressing long-term retention risks. Provide guidance to product teams and AI/ML engineers by developing security patterns, conducting threat modeling, and authoring operational playbooks. Evaluate and integrate external tools for data discovery, monitoring, and tokenization, driving automation for classification and response. Define strategies and architecture for secure data handling and implement data incident protocols and response playbooks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Security Engineering, Data Governance, Cloud Operations, and AI/ML teams, to ensure comprehensive data security. Conduct regular assessments and updates to the data protection framework to address evolving cybersecurity threats and compliance standards. Ensure all work complies with organizational policies, standards, and cybersecurity best practices. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in information security or data architecture roles. Proven experience in highly regulated industries or utility sectors. Strong expertise in structured data protection within data lakes or Azure Synapse environments. Hands-on experience with AI security and responsible AI design patterns. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Azure Security credentials. Demonstrated proficiency in managing legacy data cleanup projects, including tape archive migrations. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure, compliance tools, and cybersecurity practices.
