The Polverino laboratory seeks an outstanding candidate for an Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate will lead the Principal Investigator's main projects by assisting in animal and human experiments focused on lung emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and COVID-19. The ideal candidate will have a record of scholarly achievement, have the ability to explore and potentially secure independent external funding, and have a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring.
The Polverino laboratory is led by Francesca Polverino, MD PhD. Since 2015, the laboratory has conducted interdisciplinary research and translational medicine that integrates clinical medicine with epidemiology, immunology, genetics, epigenetics, pharmacology and cutting-edge technology in order to understand and treat airway disease. Dr. Polverino's laboratory mission is to improve our understanding of the risk factors, natural history, biology and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
• At least 5 years of wet laboratory work experience (employment in a biomedical research lab), particularly experience working with murine models of COPD (including bronchoalveolar lavage, pulmonary function tests, assessment of pulmonary pathologies) and human COPD sample handling.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
