Dog handlers needed for growing doggy daycare and dog training business near THE GROVE and LACMA. Dog experience required, the right people for us LOVE DOGS but also have great customer service skills, want to be part of a fast growing hard working environment, and most importantly must love dogs! We are open from morning to evening every day 7 days a week, so morning and afternoon/evening shifts available. We take care of dozens of dogs per day and members of our team supervise playtime and general pet care such as feeding, cleaning and walking. This is a part time position but for the right people can become a full time job with additional pay and responsibilities. Starting pay is $18-20 per hour based on skills and experience. You must be able to handle dogs of all sizes without being afraid of them and without allowing them to control you. You must be in good physical condition, able to squat, stoop, bend, lift, and do a lot of walking. 

Must be willing to maintain the highest standards in cleanliness.

The Attendant’s role is to help manage safe and controlled playgroups and to oversee the total care of all the dogs in the facility on any given day, as well as general pet care such as feeding, cleaning and walking. This position is critical as you will help to maintain the high standard and quality of individualized care our customers have come to expect. 

All Attendants have duties and responsibilities including providing excellent animal care as well as properly cleaning and disinfecting crates, floors, bowls, and common areas and general housekeeping throughout the entire facility.

Job Type: PART-TIME (potential availability for full-time, please inquire) 

Salary: Starting From $18.00 - $20.00 per hour Depending On Experience

Shifts will primarily be:

  • 4 hour shifts to start
  • Evening shifts
  • Weekend shifts

Work Location: In person

Expectations and Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising large groups of dogs with other team members both inside & outside
  • Use of obedience skills and benevolent leadership to control the pace
  • Sanitizing the area frequently to ensure a clean environment for the dogs
  • Greet and engage with clients during arrivals and departures
  • Maintaining sanitary play yards, suites and enclosures and ensuring that space is inviting and clean at all times. General cleaning as well
  • Preparing meals and administering medications
  • Must be able to follow directions and comply with processes and procedures for best practices in animal care, health and safety. Willingness to help us improve as well!
  • Help to ensure accuracy of total number of dogs in house
  • Perform feedings accurately and pass on communication if dogs are not eating
  • Integrate new dogs into the pack following the protocol and evaluate throughout the day
  • Intake daycare dogs safely and in a controlled manner, ensure that dogs are checked off on list
  • Ensure that the dogs have fresh water at all times
  • Work with dogs on the floor to continue our commitment to training and keeping the dogs engaged in a positive manner on the floor
  • Observe dogs for any and all odd behaviors, signs of illness or injury and report to supervisors if anything of concern comes to your attention

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work as a team to ensure obedience skills are used to manage the pack
  • Read white board on a daily basis and take note of all comings/goings, special instructions, etc.
  • Ensure that all communication is passed along to next shift’s teammate

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift dog food and belongings weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Handle animals weighing up to 150 pounds
  • Work standing, walking and bending for 4 hour shifts
  • Stamina to work with energetic dogs, while ensuring our facility is inviting and sanitary
