Job Description

Cash Applications Specialist

Location: Bethesda, MD (Onsite, 5 days/week)

Pay: $23 – $26 / hour (Contract-to-Hire)

Schedule: Full-Time Hours

Start Date: Within 2 weeks

Interview Process: In-person interview

 

About the Role:

Our client, a major service provider in the DMV is looking to bring on a Cash Applications Specialist to join their growing accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone with at least 1 year of AR/Cash Applications experience who thrives in a high-volume, detail-oriented environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Cash Receipts & Payment Application:

  • Process high-volume customer payments: lockbox, ACH, wires, credit cards, checks
  • Accurately apply payments to corresponding invoices
  • Investigate and resolve unapplied or misapplied payments
  • Audit team member work for accuracy and provide feedback when needed

 

Credit Card Processing:

  • Handle and post virtual credit card payments
  • Coordinate with internal/external contacts to confirm payment details

 

Accounts Receivable Support:

  • Assist AR Manager with projects, data cleanup, and ongoing process improvement
  • Respond to payment/invoice inquiries
  • Support system upgrades or special projects as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in AR or Cash Applications
  • Comfortable in a high-volume transactional environment
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Lawson experience a plus but not required)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and time-management skills
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency
  • Associate degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus, but not required
