Job Description

Position Summary:

The Bartender at KATA plays a central role in delivering an exceptional guest experience through expert beverage preparation, warm hospitality, and consistent execution of KATA’s service standards. This position blends technical skill with genuine guest engagement, ensuring every cocktail, pour, and interaction reflects the restaurant’s brand, values, and commitment to excellence.

As a key member of the Front of House team, the Bartender maintains deep product knowledge, supports smooth bar operations, and collaborates closely with the Bar Lead, General Manager, and BOH partners. This role requires precision, efficiency, and a passion for creating memorable moments that drive guest satisfaction and repeat business.

Core Tasks and Responsibilities:

Prepare, craft, and serve all beverages according to KATA’s recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines: Ensure every cocktail, beer, wine, and non‑alcoholic beverage is executed with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail, reinforcing the quality and identity of KATA’s beverage program.

Maintain expert-level product knowledge across all beverage offerings: Stay fully informed on spirits, cocktails, wine, beer, sake, specials, and seasonal features to confidently guide guests, make recommendations, and elevate the overall dining experience.

Deliver warm, attentive, and professional hospitality to all bar and dining room guests: Engage authentically with guests, anticipate needs, respond to feedback, and create a welcoming environment that encourages return visits and positive word-of-mouth.

Support bar setup, breakdown, and daily operational readiness: Execute all opening and closing procedures, including restocking, cleaning, prepping ingredients, organizing tools, and ensuring the bar is fully prepared for service.

Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the bar at all times: Uphold health and safety standards by keeping all bar surfaces, tools, glassware, and equipment clean, sanitized, and properly stored throughout service.

Manage bar inventory and communicate supply needs proactively: Monitor stock levels of spirits, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and bar tools; communicate shortages or needs to the Bar Lead and General Manager to ensure uninterrupted service.

Accurately handle all transactions and follow cash-handling procedures: Process payments, manage tabs, and ensure all POS entries are correct, minimizing errors and maintaining financial accuracy.

Collaborate with FOH and BOH teams to ensure seamless service: Coordinate with servers, food runners, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure timely drink delivery, smooth communication, and consistent guest satisfaction.

Participate in ongoing training and development sessions: Engage in tastings, workshops, and service training to deepen expertise, refine technique, and stay aligned with evolving menu offerings and service expectations.

Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws and safety regulations: Verify guest identification when necessary, monitor guest consumption, and uphold responsible service practices to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.

Support execution of specials, promotions, and seasonal beverage features: Assist in rolling out new menu items, limited-time offerings, and bar-driven initiatives that enhance guest engagement and drive revenue.

Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workplace culture: Model professionalism, reliability, and respect; support teammates during high-volume periods; and help foster an environment centered on hospitality, communication, and shared success.
